The Story of Armas Borg

Armas Borg founded the funeral home in 1945 on Annankatu in Helsinki. His goal was to offer comprehensive and confidential funeral services, where the staff not only managed all practical arrangements but most importantly met grieving families with empathy and respect.

From the beginning, Borg saw the funeral business not as a commercial venture, but as a life’s calling. At the core of his work were listening, presence, and compassionate care – values that continue to shape our approach today.

Borg’s dedication to the funeral industry extended far beyond his own business. In 1950, he was elected to the board of the Finnish Funeral Directors’ Association and became its chairman the same year, serving in that role for ten years. He also helped establish the Nordic Funeral Directors’ Association in 1965 and led it as chairman until 1972.

Although he retired in 1972, Borg continued to influence the funeral profession for years. He was often described as warm-hearted, attentive, and meticulous – someone who genuinely wanted to help others. He frequently said that the highest recognition for a funeral home is the gratitude of a client – for well-managed arrangements and for being present in a time of grief.

His legacy lives on in the way we meet each client – with dignity and compassion.
